German television is doing a fairytale marathon this Christmas! I thought this would make today the best Christmas ever. I was mistaken. I found out... another german tv channel is showing OUR Merlin this afternoon German television, I love you. You put all my favourite things in one Christmas. There it's been said. I have to attend a family party now. All those who can/will watch Merlin (starting in 5 minutes) on german television: ENJOY, and look us fangirls up. Merlin has become a Christmas film! Overlooking the fact that Merlin was created to be the antichrist... coming to the logical conclusion... Mab rules Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone

Apparently the french Merlin comic is continuing! And goddess Ahes is returning according to the book's summary! It seems that Ahes has been reincarnated as Morgan le fay in book 11? Merlin T11 - Le Roi Arthur www.amazon.fr/Merlin-T11-Le-Roi-Arthur/dp/2302040813/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414651219&sr=8-1&keywords=merlin+lambertI know sleepyqueenie was the awesome person who translated the dutch versions of books 1-10 into English for us. *Arwen looks at her with puppy dog eyes*I don't know if the Dutch version has been released yet or is even planned, since I only understand French.

I actually managed to find all the books 1-11 thru a combination of Canadian eBay and French Amazon. Thankfully, things have improved in recent years and they now usually take international orders and shipping. It used to be impossible to find anyone who would ship stuff outside of the country of origin OR allow you to use a foreign card/currency to pay for stuff. I decided I really wanted to own the hardcopy of the books because they're just so pretty and it's my birthday next month so why the hell not.

Congrats for finding those comic books! I am so glad you still enjoy them. Thank you. "Apparently the french Merlin comic is continuing! And goddess Ahes is returning according to the book's summary!" This is new to me. I know of several spin off series that have appeared since 'our series', I found and bought one issue of those. The only one I know of to have been translated to Dutch. It is very possible that more have been translated. To be honest I didn't care that much about the spin offs. Though the artwork is stunning as ever. It lacked Ahes I guess. I will look into that 11th number. ^^ I am going to the same book event where I found my first two issues of the Merlin comic. They will have all the Dutch ones there, then I can buy the eleventh if it has been translated. ^^ Thank you for giving me this news and I will quest to find a Dutch copy. tbc

Here I am with much to tell on the Merlin comics. The new ones in the original series have not been translated into Dutch yet. They did have all the past ones. As for the many spin off series, all with different artwork, they must do extremely well in France because I have seen many of them translated into Dutch. Excalibur (I own the first issue of this one, two have been translated now), Druids, Lancelot (3 books translated, looks very fine. With a Morgana and Vivian. I am not certain if all the series tie in together or have their own versions of/backstories to the characters), the legend of Ys (1 and 2, in which surprisingly I did not detect an Ahes).

I have more comic book news. It looks like the different series are entwined. I paged through several issues and this I have seen: Lancelot features, as mentioned before, Viviane and Morgan. Mother and daughter apparently and up to no good by the looks of it. Excalibur nr 2. ends with a completely white Viviane, much like our Merlin's Lady, talking to a poor priest in an "I am goddess, I am supreme" way. She may be evil in this, or at the very least haughty. Merlin the queste for the sword nr. 4 begins with a venture into fairy territory where Merlin gets confronted by an (two page) apparation of.... AHES. I would say her return is very possible. She prances about, ready to fight, he figures out immediately that she is an illusion and reminds her that she is forgotten. Mind you, forgotten he said, he did not say dead, I find hope in this difference. Soon after she was gone again. I don't believe not-real Ahes is fond of being forgotten. Here is what Arwen mentioned : soleilprod.com/album/2947 Nr. 11 of the Merlin series Le Roi Arthur, with drawings by the original artworker. It came out last August. Quick, loose translation of the words "After 5 centuries the Romans leave England because of invasions by Saxons, Picts and Scots. The christian religion is winnng, poor dwindling religion of the druids and Avalon. But the goddess Ahès has returned! blabla Arthur blabla Merlin Arthur Arthur Arthus. (I am awfully single-minded here, sorry, after Ahès is back my mind went blank with cheers ) OR YOU CAN CLICK THE BRITISH FLAG AND GET A DECENT TRANSLATION. To conclude this post I would like to share a pretty cover picture of a German comic book/graphic novel for obvious reasons. www.splitter-verlag.eu/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/900x1200/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/9/7/9783868690866_cover.jpg

You may find it funny to know that Queen Mab is now blonde lol. Or at least the human body she is inhabiting is blonde. The Goddess Ahès originally resurrected herself into the body of Morgan le fay in the last book. Now Ahès has moved into a new body and that body is a blonde woman lol. These comics have become so ridiculously hardcore feminist, but at the same time tons of naked ladies and boobies, that I'm not sure who he's writing for lol. Is he writing for men or women? So basically, Ahès marries this king in her blonde human body. She might have even let him live if he had proved useful and malleable. But he definitely turns out to be a monster and there's a brutal attempted-rape scene, of course, because the audience has to know how anti-woman this king is lol. So yes, the finale page of the book is a ton of stark-naked warrior women standing over a dead and bloody king who has been "unmanned" by the women lol. This story gets more ridiculous all the time that I'm laughing thru most of it. But hey, he does have good artwork! Merlin is also still alive, but I haven't translated his parts yet to figure out what he's up to. He's an old man right now, but still seems pretty powerful. I translated the page that reveals Ahès must have gotten busy with King Arthur (Morgan's half-brother) while she was still inside Morgan's body and possessing it. So now Morgan is really upset she's pregnant with an inbred bastard. So now the author is totally stealing from Mists of Avalon plot with the body paint he has blonde!Mab wear and with Morgan being impregnated against her will by being tricked into sleeping with Arthur (in this case she is possessed by Ahès).The book is called "The Queen of Blood" and that refers to the blonde!Mab, since she does some butchering of the king she was to marry. This was just a translation rush-job. Hopefully, if I can find the free-time, I'm going to try to take some decent pictures of the entire book and translate the entire thing: Mab's blatant lesson in feminisim lol: i115.photobucket.com/albums/n307/Arwen17evenstar/ahes02/IMG_1797.jpgGeez, this Mab is very anti-male. XD Must be a hold-over from Merlin and every man failing her. Proof that Ahès is inside Bëidre's body: i115.photobucket.com/albums/n307/Arwen17evenstar/ahes02/IMG_1808.jpgI get the impression that Ahès can possess angry young women who have strong ties to the Old Ways. She latches onto those negative emotions like a malignant spirit. Well...when you're a War Goddess, it's not going to be rainbows and unicorns... Here's where the author is stealing from the Mists of Avalon plot and Merlin plot at the same time: page 1: i115.photobucket.com/albums/n307/Arwen17evenstar/ahes02/IMG_1809.jpgpage 2: i115.photobucket.com/albums/n307/Arwen17evenstar/ahes02/IMG_1811.jpgViviane is essentially the Lady of the Lake. Merlin and Viviane helped Morgan's mother get raped (aka Igraine and Uther). But Ahès (viviane from mists of avalon) gets Morgan pregnant by Arthur without her knowing who the father is. Morgane is the french-spelling of Morgan. No other differences. I'm really tempted to change all mentions of "Ahes" to "Mab" LOL.

Rewatching Merlin lol....
You know, I really wonder if Mab would have found a way to prevent Merlin from dying of old age. If he had been her savior and son, she would have loved him more than any other person who ever existed, including Idath. I just can't see her being OK with him dying one day. She originally wanted to create him as a full fae instead of half-fae. She clearly wanted him to be immortal and like her. So I wonder if her powers had been restored that she would have been able to "remake" him to full fae or grant him immortality eventually. Or at the very least, spirit him off to her world before he gets too old (once his restoration job is done and the crown is passed on to his son) where he won't age as long as he stays. That's usually how faerieland works. You have immortality as long as you never set foot in the human world again. "If I'm half-mortal, will I die?" "In the fullness of time. We cannot change that."
But what if he isn't half-mortal anymore or just stays in faerieland? Mab mentions in the book he will have a very long life and seems sad when she agrees he will die of old age eventually. But it still makes me wonder how immutable his lifespan really is and that there isn't a backdoor "cheat code" to getting around the limitation if Mab really sought that. Maybe I have too much faith in her abilities lol.
It would have been super interesting to see Merlin succeed because the royal line on the throne ever after would also be Mab's blood. Every descendant would be connected to her in a small way, whether they're born with any magic or not. But I think Merlin is the only one she would want to whisk away to faerieland forever to avoid him dying.
Would Mab try to prevent his death and keep him forever? Or does she accept all mortals die, even Merlin? She'd certainly remember him forever. We got a nice "Mordred" shriek when Mordred was murdered. What if Merlin had been murdered during the movie? Even if he was still her enemy, would she scream? would she avenge his death? If he was not her enemy, would she cry? (in private of course) XD
Do you think Merlin's children would have any magic? Would it only appear in the 1st generation and then slowly peter out over time with each successive generation?
Also, with Merlin's long-ass lifespan just from being half-fae, he's going to outlive any wife he takes as Queen. This is almost like an inversion of what happened with Aragorn and Arwen. But when the King dies, the Queen wanders the woods until she perishes. Since Merlin is the King and the one with a long life, he might stay on the throne for a few generations before leaving for faerieland, since he does age so slowly. But what are his sons and daughters supposed to do in the meantime? Especially if Merlin takes more than one wife as they die of old age. He's going to end up with a lot of children from different women over time. Will all of his children be long-lived as well? You could very easily end up with a situation of "too many royals" if they all have impressive longevity. And I'm sure the rest of the aristocracy would be eager to marry them, not just because they're children of the King, but also because they can add long lifespans (and possibly magic) to their own family trees via the children they create with Merlin's descendants. I think Mab hasn't really thought this through and is about to create a "super-race" of humans who are all concentrated in the aristocratic families lol. I could also see them losing their magic and long lifespans as the blood gets thinner and thinner in future generations, but then they might use the "targaryen method" and only marry among those with the highest blood percentage to try to preserve the faerie blood as much as possible. Aristocracy already inbreed a lot, but this would be an even more extreme version in an attempt to maintain faerie blood levels of descendants.
----
I like the weird, fast movements Frik and Mab and other fae do, but why do they do it? They choose odd times to move like that before returning to "human speed". What's the point of moving like that for such short periods of time? I don't remember the book saying anything about it, like it's a movie-only thing. There's an anime called Bleach that has something called a "flash step" that they use to cross distances faster when they're fighting. But it serves a purpose: combat or games of tag. They don't move like that the rest of the time. When Mab and Frik choose to move strangely, it doesn't seem to serve any purpose, except whimsy. Like when Mab throws the water at Frik, she zooms around to examine the water mid-air. WHY? What was the point of that?
I guess for some of it, it might be caused by "agitation". Mab seems to move like that when she's feeling frustrated or angry. And the rest of the time, it seems to just be her being a dramatic and flashy show-off: examining the water mid-air, popping out of the rock.
