I think that even if Mab saw Merlin as more of a son, she'd probably get some kind of teasing dig in there, rather than being awkward. But that might be because I like to ship Mab with her brother, so the incest aspects may have been dulled to me XD Mostly, though, I think she'd do it just to get the last word in. Even if she doesn't want to sleep with Merlin, come on, she's not going to let him see her flustered!

I agree she would never allow herself to appear flustered. But if she was disturbed, I could see her looking "reserved" in an attempt to hide her "wtf is going on" confusion. hahaha kinda of a "no comment" face to hide what she's thinking. OR she would tilt her head to the side and analyze the situation emotionlessly.

Yeah perhaps Im forcing myself to think of Mab in that way just to make myself smile as I do like Mab/Merlin. But yeah in general I dont think Mab would break a sweat probably not even get angry. She doesnt show Merlin much of a maternal side and they rarely even so much as touch, also Mab is a beautiful woman so there would be no self consciousness.

they rarely even so much as touch I felt like that was a queen and/or goddess thing. You don't touch the British monarch either. I remember a big uproar over the fact that Michelle Obama put her arm around the Queen for a second and the British were like o.O when she did that. The Queen returned the gesture and that seems to have made everyone do an even bigger o.O lmao

That is so cute.hehe yeah. Michelle was just being friendly and she did it without thinking. silly american. But the British were like "gah! what did you just do? You're not supposed to touch the monarch! bad bad bad!" Shocking that the queen returned the gesture because if you're not used to being causally touched like that, you might just o.O on reflex. *Merlin tries to sneak arm around Mab in a friendly gesture* *gets electrocuted before touching her*lol this sounds more like something mordred would do. I think if you asked for permission to touch her and she gave it, then it would be ok. But coming up and touching her without permission is extremely presumptuous. You're acting like you're her equal or something by being so casual with her. here's michelle touching the queen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGfNVFGTTzIsquee!

True which makes you question her I love you.

Apart from in the case of Vortigern and Mordred apparently unless you count baby Merlin and her hitting Frik. Im imagine that making her very lonely so I usually add in a few fae the prizes of her collection that just sort of pet her all day in my head :L

But wouldnt it be a lovely picture

Im not even sure what British bloody is any more :L it's turning into England and Wales.

I dont think she'd mind Mordred, even if she did I doubt she'd hurt her favourite.
here's michelle touching the queen:
Makes no difference to me but the comments are a bloody disgrace, one thinks the American president runs the world, christ I hate wear I live but I'd pick it all the time to live in for it's loyalty and passion. Grrr I get all depressed when I see people whining about this and that.

Yeah, I think she'd probably let Mordred hug her- she seems to have when he was a kid, so I imagine he's probably picked up the habit anyway... Though I imagine she might dissuade him from doing it too often... I don't know, though, these are just thoughts.
I never brought this whole "You've lost your mother aspect so you can't love anymore" thing. If we take the fact that Mab can't lie as canon (which, admittedly, since it was mentioned in the book, rather than the film, you could probably ignore if you chose, but I tend to work with it in mind, since it makes for a fun restriction), then obviously she CAN love, as she admits to loving Merlin twice. But it makes her act unloving... I can buy that. Or that she doesn't really know how to show love, or let it affect her actions so much.
Re: Michelle Obama touching the Queen- I had no idea this even happened. I don't know if this was on British news, it could have been, I'm pretty terrible at keeping up to date with news... XD Maybe its just the fact that most people in my social circle are either staunch anti-monarchists or don't give a crap about the royal family, but when I clicked on that video and saw the comments, it killed a little part of me inside... Literally, its like "The Obamas are morons!" "The Queen is an old white bitch!" and, of course, descending into UK vs. USA arguments. FAIL.
I like to think that secretly, the Queen just wants to bro-grab (is there a female equivalent of bro-grabs? Sis-grabs, maybe?) everyone she meets, its only protocol holding her back. But that's mostly because it amuses me. But hey, at least she made it into the news for something other than her husband being a crazy old racist...
But, yeah, more on topic, I suspect that a lack of hugging is probably partly due to the fact that, in public, Mab needs to appear queenly and regal, by and large. I think the fact that her warrior side becomes her dominant/ only personality is probably a big part of it as well- possibly she's not so good at expressing emotion, possibly she just thinks it makes her appear weak. With Mordred, since her affections are largely shared in "private" (i.e. only in front of the Tintagel "family"), protocol is probably less of a concern, and she likely sees it as more important to get Mordred onside, so to speak, than to appear totally untouchable, as she did with Merlin

you guys should keep the monarchs around because they help bring in the tourists which helps your economy, but perhaps the monarchs shouldn't receive so much of the tax money.
but the comments are a bloody disgrace, never ever read youtube comments, they're always full of internet-trolls.

in public, Mab needs to appear queenly and regal, by and large. exactly. she can do whatever she wants in private.
than to appear totally untouchable, as she did with Merlin why why why did she do that with merlin?

I don't consider myself especially anti-monarchy, myself, though I can certainly appreciate the arguments for that stance.
I don't know why Mab did that with Merlin... I suspect it comes down to her not really showing affection/ love anymore, by and large, and only really having an outsider's view on the human mind- she's not an especially affectionate or emotional person, and doesn't really consider that by not treating Merlin as her son, she is only harming her own cause. I guess.

I guessMmmm, which is one way to look at it, yet she does manage and I love you and a Mordred huggle. It's sad but I think emotions may have saved her had she shown any. I imagine it would be an easier job to kill a smirking cold ice queen, than a warm loving mother figure.

a smirking cold ice queen yummy! but isn't that why we love her? If she were all lovey-dovey I doubt she would have all of us following her.

That is EXACTLY why we love her, yeah we certainly are but to be fair most people like Merlin turn against the smirking cold ice queen and Mab's gotta have some love. And we are more than willing to offer that ;D
