To be honest, I can't remember what my ideas were, or even if I had any. It would be great to have another part if you've got the ideas and the time, to keep Cid alive!

Apologies for the delay. It was a busy time. I have my old notes and plans, written down in pinks, blues and purples, not that I can make much sense of them. I see in my notes that I calll this story a patchwork. I have forgotten a lot about this story and I'd rather just get into it by typing up and expanding upon the first page I have before me than to make an extensive study of it and feel that what I post next must be 'perfect'. Heck my handwriting has changed over these years! But...before I do that, I see that I have a happy review on your previous chapter in these notes: snarky Mab! Snarky everyone! Is awesome! And Loke our best friend, one we all support and cheer for, I love how he became our main hero. mab thinking Shit= precious and my heart soars. Pull eyes from sockets and feed them to the ravens ˆˆ yay perfect, absolutely perfect to see all the threads... Why do I just love evil lady? YAY Mab scream(huge exlamation mark!) and of that rug (clearly its fault ) perfect just perfect! I love Mab Loke looking out for each other. cute non human lady and lord. 'bring to heel' love that yep Viv and Mab storm Awe Vivie and having hurt feelings. Being refused so quickly by her favourite sibling, as she did to Mab. Yay Human Form Mountain king HERE WE GO! ˆˆ Cool Morgan, queen Mother. and Merlin being refered to as one of Mab's pets, how nice that must be to hear. Oh Nimue 'raising one of Mab's children' Merlin a good man. yep. awww beautiful human form for Mountain King! Everyone together, what a pretty starting point for me to write.

''They are, my lord.'' Merlin said with a brightness that had been lacking from him for far too long. The wizard who was everyone's friend, who had ideal plans of peace for the kingdom. ''It is good to see you.'' he continued, having recognised him at once. He would be certain to treat him with every honour. Finally another among them with some sense of morality left.
''Would his lordship like a cape?'' This was Morgan of course, always one for playpretend. He certainly could grow one from moss from his back should be so desire.
The rumbling soft laugh returned. ''I care not for such symbols.'' ''But his lordship has not a thread upon him.'' Morgan was intrigued and too happy considering the circumstances, but then that was a front she tended to put up to strangers.
''The Lady is...crumbling.'' The mountain king spoke to Merlin, as in confidence, as addressing a fellow king and ruler.
''We are aware...'' Merlin was cut short by Queen Mab's entering of the room. Silently and inconspicious, for her, her attention claimed by the woman beside her. The vessel to her future dreams.
She was as much talking to Nimue as she was preoccupied by kissing her face as much as she could. Face to face, conspiratorially, one in a brown veil, the other with her black hair cloaked around her. Mab saw the fear, the tears in Nimue's eyes. She was not at all comfortable with their new proximity. Her life no longer hers. So afraid to drink blood, to sleep with Mab, to be made to become some monster of the fairy queen's making. She was letting it happen by lack of options.
''Merlin.'' she whispers and he came to her side. He took her hands in his own, in the old days he would not hesitate to call her his love at this very moment. He still would call her this if he were certain she would like it. But he had put her into this predicament and found himself uncertain how to proceed. So all he could do was be her rock, hold her hands carefully, warm and strong.
The Mountain King's lips broke to a contemptuous crack at beholding the pregnant woman. At a glance he saw Mab's energies running through her. It was Mab's child. This was her plan to keep Merlin on her side and to win the land? How like Mab.
''My sister is to raise a child of her own...'' the king's voice dawdled though he was very to the point.
''I can!'' Queen Mab snapped. ''They can, '' his voice boomed. '' for you. You lack one thing....love.''
Morgan cheered with wild arm gestures, before bringing her hands before her own mouth as to turn invisible. Her eyes huge and excited.
Mab clenched her fists.
Merlin ignored it all, his attention only on Nimue, who had closed herself off to flee the place. Her eyes shut, her breaths controlled. Merlin loved how Nimue was coming more to herself, she was breathing deeply to ground herself and sure enough soon she would be strong to confront Mab once more.
''My friend'' The king gestured a stiff arm to the wizard. ''a friend of the Lady of the Lake as I am, you will have him do this for you. You would force him to be your champion.''
Mab glared. ''I will do what I must!'' Which was, as usual with her, something harsh.
Her one hand gripping Nimue by the shoulder, the other to her waist, she turned the human lady to her. Her face darkly determined:'' what I am about to do is what is best for the child and for the Old Ways.'' She lingered on those last words. The Old Ways as an old lover, perfect, unyielding, unchanging, out of reach.
Nimue regarded her with disdain and fires of rebellion as fierce as Mab's own. When they stood before one another like this it was evident how very much alike they were. In figure and spirit. Merlin had chosen well. A woman of strong beliefs. Someone to rival Mab, in time. Someone with convictions opposite to hers, a being of love.
Mab hissed, in Nimue's face though her displeasure was directed at her stonelike brother. ''Did you, the Lady, Merlin and Ambrosia have secret brunches together and discuss my unfitness to be a mother?''
The mountain king mellowed. ''That matter is not why I am here.''
Merlin turned to the king.
''Then have us return to what brings you here.'' He nodded in agreement.
Mab continued fretting with Nimue's hair.
''Our sister has changed.'' Queen Mab scoffed.
''No kidding!'' A cry from the other room. Loke came rushing to them. He noted in a flash his brother the mountain king, the king's respect for Merlin, his not knowing how to react to Nimue so letting it slide of him like water and his apparent disinterest in Mab since not much had changed there.
Loke struck his mighty stone shoulder. His smile that of a victor.
An alliance between kings succesfully formed.
''My fine rocksolid fellow, I knew you were dependable. Make yourself comfortable, has no one offered you a chair? Let us discuss our 'good natured' sister.''
''I have no need of...a chair.''
''How, how does your dear friend the Lady of the Lake strike you nowadays? I must confess, I am anxious to know.''
The mountain king took a long considerate look about the room. ''She used to feel clear of mind of judgement. I could depend upon her. She would relate to how I see the world. Though I always AM and she is always changing. We were alike. Now she is more muddled than Mab. And troubled...''
Another glare from Mab. Muddled and troubled were normal for Mab, gee thanks.
''She strives for a clean pure world. Her objectives were good. Once.''
Loke began: ''I would not count on them being so now. I believe the more she makes the world in her and Idath's image, the more she becomes something else herself. ''
''That must be disappointing to her.'' the mountain king sighed deeply.
''I had not thought of it like that. You are right it is good to be empathic in our theories of her. We are desperate for insights. Our lived depend on it. Her plans are what are changing her, they are not necessarily what brought about the change.''
