True, but I must say it was in Merlin especially. It seemed as though the men on the darker side had richer characters and you wanted to know more about them (ie Mordred, Vortigern, Uther [kinda], Frik [sorta]). Where as the good guys seemed very bland (ie. Merlin, Arthur . . .) But it could just be me. I have always been a girl who loves the villians.

Hmm... OK, I see what you mean about the "bad boys." And they're definitely worth exploring Still, I can't say Merlin was what you can call a dull/bland character. He may have made some veeeeeery weird/reckless decisions, but he did go through certain conscience processes, he did analyse himself, (part of) his mistakes etc. That was really good, as far as I'm concerned.

Um, no deary sorry. Vortigern pwns where Mab is not involved. Well, I'd vote Mordred over Morgan (and them and a damn sight more besides over Vortigern, I fear, LOL)... but I fear you and I are both outvoted, Libitine, for, counting Zoicite's vote which went astray, Morgan is now in the lead, I believe

But Morgan is so damn annoying! Really she is a spoiled brat with no sense of when to stop. She had it coming.

Really! Come on. What was so appealing about her? Okay, before you start with the whole, 'What was appealing about Mab?' (because that is a very himiko-like rebutle if she was to browse by this convo) Mab is quite different than Morgan because she is the one real 'villian' in the story (unless you want me to go on another rant about that) and she weilds tons of power and she is ded sexy. So there.

There are two versions of Morgan to me; up to and including the Merlin vs Morgan scene she is intelligent, articulate, resourceful, and motivated. After that scene she seems to have a lobotomy and becomes vapid, useless, irrelevant, etc. My sympathies are with Morgan part I, in part because I first saw the shortened video-taped version of Merlin which omits some of the pathetic-Morgan scenes. But I could easily someone who put more weight on the second type of Morgan as seeing her in a less positive light.

I would have found Morgan a great deal more appealing if they'd kept more of her earlier aspects around.

I must confess I never made too much of Morgan. I did love the scene where she "pwned" Merlin - she was perfectly right about everything she said. However, the character strikes me as selfish, really self-absorbed, and wanting power at any cost. So, despite the aforementioned scene, I'm not so very fond of her.

(bolding and etc. by Libi) Hrmm. Do you think perhaps Mab reached a point where she wanted power at any cost?

Hm, good question. She’s always wanted – needed – power, but for a very good reason. It was the fate of a whole world that hung in the balance, and from that perspective and in order to achieve her goal, yes, she did want it at any cost. Nevertheless, there were certain lines she never crossed. Of course, it all went from bad to worse, and she started to turn her focus more towards revenge at one point, rather than just having power, but that’s another story.
