Hopefully this topic isn't ignored like my last, but if it is - that's all right, I'm used to it. This seems to be around the lines of Epica/Nightwish/Within Temptation fans, I think. She's under the genre of gothic metal - whatever that is, exactly- apparently I've been listening to a lot of that lately. It started with this song that got me hooked, though some of her others are much faster-paced. "So You Disappear"Here's another that's pretty good. "Snow White"

Oh, I love that band. Crysta (Mab’s Familiar) introduced me to them, so many thanks for that! I love most of the songs on the India album – Now & Forever, Like a Rose on the Grave of Love, Fight Me, Who We Are, In Love with the Darkness, Dancer… (I did say most songs…). The song that got me hooked would probably be Ravenheart (not for nothing did I make the vid ).

I was hoping I wasn't the only one - the appearance of the singer reminds me of Mab, which is probably what attracted me to getting more songs. ;D Oh, that was yours? Oo, I need to check that out then - been overlooking a lot of Mab music videos since there seems to be too many lately, maybe it's just me.

Um, I don't know about the singer (speaking of her, I've heard she's no longer in the band, which plainly sucks), but it was a Mab fanvid that made me get my You Tube account in the first place, so go figure... *is hopeless*

Ah, very good point, Accolon. I totally second that. ;D

LOL, Accolon, ye raises a good point there.
Hmmm, I've listened to some Xandria songs. I DO like Ravenheart, I must admit, but by and large, I've not really got into them. I don't know why, their music seems very much standard amongst female fronted metal, but perhaps I'll find a song that'll capture my imagination one of these days.

I don't know if this is just me and my philistine musical tastes, but alot of bands will have this one "popular song" that is some combination of their "true" musical style and more popular, upbeat elements. I'll listen to this popular song and like it, decide to try their other normal songs, and dislike the rest. Not because the other songs are artistically inferior; in fact,t hey are probably more artistically "pure" and better expressions of the artist's voice... but my tastes are so crude that I don't like them. So I like Ravenheart... don't like any of the others.

Nothing wrong with your tastes if you don't like all the songs I know there's a few bands where I only like 2 or 3 songs by the artist.

Not sure if anyone still on the forum at this point is a Xandria fan, but I've been listening to them again recently (and trying to take my mind off the referendum) - they've had 2 new singers since the last post on this thread, and released a couple of new albums and an EP. Both of the new singers seem to have been of a more classical sound than their initial vocalist, they've both sounded pretty good. Their last EP had a cover of "I Would Do Anything For Love" by Meatloaf, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, worked very well with the bombastic sound XD

Hi, another Xandria fan present. I actually saw them live about a year ago -that would be with the most recent singer?- they were really good. I know 'old Xandria' better than 'new Xandria' but have been planning to catch up on their work for a while now because I do love the sound of it.
