Oh, I agree, Merlin was a hypocrite on the matter, and was to harsh- as he himself admitted. But then, I suppose you could also argue that if you can condemn Merlin for allowing his anger at Mab to develop to such an extent that he deliberately sets himself against her, instead of looking at the bigger picture, and trying to understand that she isn't human, and that she's trying to save an entire people, etc. then you can surely also condemn Lancelot/Guinevere/both for letting their hearts override their heads, and screwing each other and hurting a bunch of others in the process. *shrugs* Just a thought...

That’s a fair point. But still, the “game” of deceit and manipulation that he and Mab played affected far too many people, as opposed to Guinevere’s affair with Lancelot. Besides, Merlin was mainly looking for revenge, again, as opposed to the other two, who “only listened to their hearts”. So I wouldn’t condemn them that easily.

Good point on all the discussion of "listening to one's heart". Though for me, they were both married. That's it, that's the basis of it all. They were both married and as such had a duty to their spouses, one having a duty to his child as well. And the other had a duty to her nation as queen. Sure, you can't help falling for someone, but you can help what actions you take in regard to it.

That's when this little voice pops into your head.
You fall for someone, but then there's this little voice that tells you what to do...reminding you of the duties and obligations you have in your life...
Then you have a choice. You can listen to the little voice in your head, or you can go off and act like it was never there in the first place.
All in all, I think everyone was at fault in this..Merlin, Guinevere, and Lancelot.

Yeah, just like in real life. Everyone's actions in some sort of way contribute to someone else's actions. (Merlin chooses Lancelot, Arthur marries Guinevere, Guinevere and Lancelot fall in love, etc. etc.)
He he, the little voices. Just like the little Devil and Angel that sit on everyone's shoulders.

Well, they both obviously tried their best to "do their duty", which is why it didn't happen immediately, but after many years. I'm not saying it makes it right, because it doesn't, but still I can understand it, seeing it from their perspective. *shrug*
