OK, I’ve got a lot of quoting to do here… DX Hmm, iirc from the director's commetary or some such, that scene was not so supposed to be so touchy-feely. But in rehersal the actors spontaneously decided to "go there." Indeed, that scene was modified a lot during rehearsals – initially, she was supposed to give him a talisman, not a tear; but then, he was supposed to show her some scar from battle on his chest, if I remember it correctly, so go figure. But I’m glad they went for the tear instead – it held so much more meaning. only if they could breach the unbreathable gap between them and comfort each other. You’ve just reminded me of the last verses of Our Great Divide, which I love dearly. And yes, I agree with that. If only… If you agree with the sex and power..... are you agreeing that V has sex appeal? ;D XXD *ded* Gods, how I love your logic, woman! That's all I have to say, really. DDX

This is a pairing I love and yes I would have loved to see them together. Do I think it would have lasted more than 5 minutes - no. Neither seem like flowers and chocolate kind of people and even if they do look good together they don't look like they would work out. Still I wonder how sweet and good natured their kid would have been if they'd had one?

Well, to me, the fact that they don't get on all that well is exactly what would make them work. I just can't see much fun in having everything work smoothly without getting boring, you know? And, OMGYAY! What a great thread to reach the 550 posts! SQUEEE! *bounces around happily*

Well, I am sure you guys all know my opinion about MV, I mean, just go and read my fics, they...illlustrate that very well.
As for them being in love...I do not think that they are emotionally able to do that. For me, this whole misty eyes, chocolate and flowers kinda thing seems more for young and unspoiled people. For Mab and V, I guess power is the most important thing they care about. I agree on the sex/power thing, it is a sort of communication between two people, but I also think both live very lonely lifes. They both have a lot of problems to deal with, so I guess they do understand each other a bit.
Their personalities DO clash a lot, and even if they do not get along very well (I agree with Lane on this one, that way it might actually be able to work out) I think they do sort of like each other. And having sex doesn't always mean that there has to be love, too. I feel that they sort of respect each other, and I think I have said this before: to me, they are the only 2 real adults in the movie (whatever that is supposed to mean) and I suppose they know what they are doing.
So M/V all the way!!!!

Ah there lies the problem I already read your fics daily I could probably tell you them better than you (Obsessed much?)hehe I can't help but think of them everytime I here Justin and Sierra's song Love and Sex and Magic. Obviously I would substitute Love with either Power or Lust. ;D Yeah the understanding each other is the bit I think really makes them 'connect' (if you get what I mean) They are both in a similar boat and no one else really understands the motives for the things they do. I do think Vortigern has a slightly darker side than Mab. Mainly because Vortigern is fighting for himself, Mab is also doing this but she is fighting for her people to. Like Lane pointed out the clashes could bring a positive out come Still I wouldn't be to quick to confuse lust with love. Anyhoo I don't think they can love either and I'm only going by what Ambrosia said to Mab. All hale Mortigern !!!! ;D

Ahem, I'm not biased at all... I simply love these two characters separately, and all the more together. But I’ll start with another small fragment of interview. “"Miranda Richardson's character [Mab] is sort of the queen of the old ways - she's a wizard in her own right. She gives me a teardrop when we say goodbye, which is really sweet - I think it's going to be very interesting to see how the audience is going to take it," Hauer revealed.” (And my totally unbiased and blunt answer would be “Unfinished!!!” Also, ditto on the sweet part, although I’m sure neither of the two charries would like to be perceived that way.) Anyway, regarding the pairing, here’s the thread to state your opinion, what you like and what you dislike about it. On a slightly different note, they’re obviously very much alike, their personalities clash a lot etc. And they usually tend to try see how they can use the other in their own plans, although the manipulation/bickering does seem to be put aside when they have to face a common enemy. The question is, what is most likely to happen if, say, things go well for both of them? Are they going to realise that it’s indeed better if they work together and fight their enemies instead of each other? And, more importantly, even if they do realise that much, is either of them going to admit it? In other words, how long before they’re at each other’s throats again? *is not blatantly trying to figure out a certain given situation, not at all* I have always felt this tension during that scene... Where could I find that interview?

That's so sweet, that's so sweet, so sweeeeeet *clears her throat* This is the first time I read that. Rutger is a darling no question about it. That tear is the sweetest thing.
