Do you think he would still have been against Mab if he had been brought up by her? Or do you think he would have seen things more from her point of view?
Personally I think if it wasn't for Ambrosia, Mab would have won. To be honest I'm not sure if I'm happy or not about that. I didn't want Mab to die but there wouldn't have been much of a plot without Ambrosia.
Thoughts??

Well, best case scenario – everything goes according to plan (and we would have had no movie ). The worst outcome might have been turning him into a version of Mordred, which would not have helped much. Although, taking into account that raising Mordred to be rather “heartless” was intentional, that’s not likely to have happened with Merlin, so I’m tempted to go for the first option.

lol I see what you mean. When I was pondering it I thought that to. I think it's because Mab spoiled Mordred and she would have probably done the same for Merlin.

Indeed, but she did it consciously. And I don't think she would have done the same with Merlin, precisely because she would not have had a reason to, at the time.

Mmmm I wonder if I am confusing Mordred's own personality with how his life style was. I think maybe Merlin would react different to Mab's gifts. Yep ok smarty your right

Nah, I fear I'm just being the eternal optimist.

Well, I am pretty much possitive that Merlin would have stayed loyal to Mab if he hadn't been raised by Ambrosia. Ambrosia was the one who raised him without telling him anything about his heritage and what awaits him. So naturally when the time came for him to go to tLoM he was scared of the unknown. And that saying of hers before he left "Magic has no power over the human heart." Blah! She immidiately put it as if the only way to survive this is to resist and fight it. No wonder Merlin didn't like magic.

Ambrosia sucks but Billie Whitelaw PWNS.
Seriously, watch The Omen. Heck yes.
ANYWAY! I think I agree with my huggable Laney-bear on this one. Merlin would have fallen victim to the "Mordred complex" and the story would have been a lot shorter and a heck of a lot less interesting.

Yeah that is a point but I guess I'm still in the "I don't care as long as Mab won stage"
