In an attempt to keep this forum going...
Have you ever been watching Merlin and wondered why the script said this or why the camera was used for that?
~Why the heck was Nimue even in the movie. Seriously, you could have cut her out and still had story. Maybe a few little holes could have been patched, but it wouldn't be too hard. ~Where the heck was Idath? And every other character from the book that didn't show in the movie? ~Seriously Mab, have a cough drop. That voice cannot be good for the vocal chords.
I apologize to the Uber-fangirls for the last one. If you are not too angry at me for wailing about the so-called-awesome voice, please post your Why The Heck's here. Even if you don't have a WTH, post one anyway. This forum needs to keep going somewhere.

This is kinda funny... To your "why the hecks"... - I kinda agree with you on Nimue, simply because she annoyed me. But I guess they "needed" her as a love interest for Merlin. Loving someone made Merlin more "human" and more vulnerable. And by making Nimue a christian, Merlin got an idea of what else existed in the world. Without her, he might have had a total "how is all this my business?"-attitude towards things. Or he would have been more easy to join Mab's side. But why oh why couldn't he fall in love with someone less annoying? A funny little detail: In other Arthurian stories (as for example in The Mists of Avalon) Nimue is a priestess of the old ways. *snickers* - Okay, yeah, WHERE the heck was Idath? He is such a great character and holds so much potential. I haven't read the books, but if I am not entirely mistaken, he plays a more or less important part in the story. AND he was Mab's lover! Imagine all the on-screen frictions! (Mab and Idath did have a sex scene in the book, didn't they? Not that this is not entirely unrelevant for a family movie.) - I am a Mab fangirl, but even I get annoyed by her voice sometimes. I mean come on, she sounds like a tonsils patient! Although I need to say that her voice is much better in the original english version, her german voice sometimes really hurts ears. I suppose this is how they chose to portray Mab getting more and more evil. Another interesting detail: ever watched the Merlin trailer? Mab's voice is totally normal in it. My "why the hecks": - why the heck didn't they get better actors for the male parts? Or more handsome ones? I know we've had this discussion before but SERIOUSLY: on the female side you have Miranda Richardson, Helena Bonham Carter and Isabella Rossellini. Those are 3 beautiful, kick-ass actresses who have won multiple awards! On the male side you have Sam Neill, Martin Short and Rutger Hauer, I admit that, but all the others.... ? All the other female parts (Igraine, Guinevere,...) were played by reasonably good actresses while the rest of the guys leave absolutly no impression on me at all. Acting-wise I mean. Well, there is Jason Done who did good, but I felt the movie was sort of imbalanced when it comes to the male-female thing. (I know I am serioulsy bitching right now) - Can somebody please cut child-Mordred's hair? These curls upset me. - Where the heck was Loke? There was Mab, the Lady and the mountain king. Where the heck was Loke? Okay, enough bitchiness for the day

Really I love her voice dunno why just cos it's so alien I think. Ok
Why the heck is Idath not in the movie? Like you said Mysteria. It would have been interesting to know more about him. Same with what you said about Nimue.

I loved Miranda's voice. I agree though, it had to have some affect on her vocal chords. Whispering, especially hoarsely, kills them. And fishinthesea... Yours about the male actors... I just think it was the roles, because Sam Neill, Rutger Hauer, and Martin Short are actually very attractive men, for being 52, 55, and 49 at the time. And I still think the same for Sam and Martin. But I think it was the roles they were put in that made them that way. Frik is my favorite, but Frik has to be the ugliest I've ever seen Martin (as a gnome of course). And Sam was pretty handsome in Sweet Revenge. Now, I complain about Arthur. I watch the BBC series and they've got a HOT Arthur, but not in this Merlin. I guess pairing them up with Isabella, Miranda, and Helena wasn't the best choice... 47, 41, 32 with 52, 55, 49... that's an average age difference of 12 years. I thought Martin and Helena were adorable together, but still there's such a large age difference between all of them. ((Oh, and BTW VOTE BELLATRIX for BEST VILLIAN in the Scream 2009 Awards and HELENA for BEST CAMEO!!! I don't worry about her winning best cameo, but Bellatrix is going against James in Twilight ! Meanies. Bellatrix is obviously more evil than he is, but there are too many Twilighters.)) ------------ Okay, so here are my complaints... ~Why the heck don't we have a HOT Arthur??? Bradley James... wow... but NOT here!!!! *cries* ~WHY THE HELL DID THEY HAVE TO KILL HELENA? *sobs harder* I have been notified by Mysteria that there is a book.... I haven't read said book, just based on the movie. Wait a minute... why do they kill Helena in so many movies?? -_- She's always a love interest but she dies frequently... *sigh* ~Why the heck can't horses just keep going and not step on the snail, or go around it, but have to wait for the snail to get out of their way? ~Why the heck is Merlin's magic used in such pathetic ways? Oh look, Gryphons, I'll get the bees to chase them away!! Crap, a dragon! I'll make plants grow and get it tangled in them. Then we have Mab who shoots arrows out of her hands and can hurl a large ball of fire. o.O ~And branching off of fishinthesea's comment about baby Mordred's hair... why do all male children have curly hair? Baby Arthur was curly too. ~Just a complaint about society... why is it that in Arthurian Mythology movies and such, there are rarely any blonde women? I actually like that, no offense to blondes, but I always thought that dark hair and pale skin was gorgeous, and it is in Arthurian Mythology, but in modern times it's the tan blonde. I'm fine with even pale blondes, but I just don't comprehend the world.

Hey, I admitted that there were Rutger, Sam and Martin who are handsome guys and awesome actors! I really liked Sam in the version of Snow White with Monica Keena, he was smoking in that one! And to me, Rutger is a piece of man-candy! I only said that I didn't like all the other male actors, like Arthur, Lancelot and *yuck* Uther. *shudders*

ROFL! That was a good one! I forgot about the bees. I can't stop laughing now!

Thank you!

I noticed that too, and I think I can explain that by citing The Mists of Avalon (once again): The "Old people" on the islands were people with dark hair and light eyes, just like Mab. Then Norsemen and Vikings stopped by, and so blonde people with blue eyes mixed with the people of the Old Ways, I guess Vortigern is a good example for that. In The Mists of Avalon, most priestesses were dark-haired, even though a few blonde ones started to pop up along the way, too. I agree with you on the dark hair-pale skin thing, it is gorgeous!

I'm fine with even pale blondes, but I just don't comprehend the world. I am naturally blonde... And pale... Just FYI... Couldn't they have picked a better "love intrest" for him? Really Nimue, buck up. I've seen Disney princesses who are less vain than she is. Yes, even Aurora, who I loathe and despise with a fiery passion. The number one killer of the mideival (sp?) movies is lens flare. You'll be watching a movie, completely absorbed in the story, and all of a sudden there will be those little bright dots on the screen that remind you there is a camera there. Pointing the camera towards our friendly neighborhood natural light source is bad for 1. the shot 2. the camera and 3. your eyes in that order. Really, directors should learn how to point their camera AWAY from the Sun. Bellatrix against James? That is dreadful. I sincerely hope that Bellatrix wins. I also hope that one day, this impossible Twilight hype will die off. It is just too much over a been-there-done-that story. Believe it or not, there were vampire romances pre-Twilight. They just didn't get any recognition. Serious question: is there any movie in which Helena Bonham Carter's character does not die? I can't think of any.

Yeah, I was always into the dark hair, pale skin thing. I never got too much sun as a kid, growing up in the pacific northwest (speaking of Twilight, I can never say I'm from Oregon without: *Gasp* They filmed Twilight in Oregon! OMG, you're so lucky! -_- And to think I've got it bad, I feel terrible for citizens of Forks.) but I've got mousy brown hair with the pale skin, so I don't think much of it.
Completely agree. I used to be so into vampires, like in elementary school I went as a vampire for Halloween three years in a row =P I liked the traditional stuff, where vampires didn't sparkle or play baseball.
I worry, but then I look through the comments for both categories. So many comments for Helena, it's insane, and all the Cam comments have a -10 rating XD
James doesn't even do anything. He's a vampire and he's hungry. He didn't kill anyone before being killed himself. Then there's Bellatrix who's just an overall screwed up individual. Murdered and tortured hundreds for the fun of it. Plus, she's well acted, unlike James who just wasn't memorable.
Good question =P I've seen nineteen HBC movies.
Lady Jane, Merlin, Sweet Revenge, Theory of Flight, Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd. All died. (Well, I'm counting Harry Potter just for Deathly Hallows.)
I'll count these, but I'll put them in a separate category. There's Corpse Bride, where she was already dead, and Till Human Voices Wake Us where she plays basically a non-existant older version of a girl who died.
Twelfth Night, Wings of the Dove, Fight Club, Novocaine, Big Fish, Wallace and Grommit, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Conversations with Other Women, Sixty Six, Terminator Salvation. Lived in those.

Okay - simply to keep this board going:
My natural hair colour is sort of dark-blondish, and I have blue eyes, so nothing against blondes. A year ago I dyed my hair reddish-brown, and I must say I quite like it. Before I'll move to skandinavia, I'll go swedish-blonde. hehe
What other "why the hecks" can I come up with?
-oh, I don't mind guys having long hair, but Mordred's really looked like he hadn't washed it in ages. That is gross! But it sort of gave him a somewhat bratty, still-stuck-in-teenage-ways, grow-up-way-to-fast kind of look.
- didn't you guys also think that Morgan was way smarter when she was a kid? The way she introduced herself to Uther and how she told Merlin to sod off for showing her that lame coin trick. When she is all grown and playing with the kyte thing...maybe that happens when ppl tell you your whole life that you are ugly (I still think that washing her hair would have worked wonders for her overall appearance)...well, whatever, with the kyte she looked real childish. But when Merlin visits her in Tintagel, she is really smart and witty and tells him to sod off...so maybe the magic brought out Morgan's real personality that had been burried under the hardship she had to endure all her life...*muses* any thoughts?
- and Merlin---that helmet! I can't imagine the costume designers to go like:"Oh look, a helmet that makes you literally look like an egg-head! Let's give it to Sam, that's going to be great!" Duh!

I love guys with long hair. Especially Finnish guys *sigh* Emppu! XD I dunno, I love so many Finnish bands and most of the guys are so good-looking. Wait a minute *gasp* *stares at Mysteria's siggy in bliss* Okay, fangirl switch turned off.
Noticed the same thing with Morgan. But just that brief scene, other than that she's quite intelligent and mature.
ROTFL, I know, right??!! *throws helmet into fire* WTH was with that helmet!?

Ehhh... you suck >=( I hate my hair, and you got all the luck! Well, the good thing about my hair is that it is extremely easy to style for my Bellatrix Halloween costume! Not the right color, but I'm not about to spray my hair gray/black and a bit white. Maybe... depends how I feel.
Hmmm... I wonder where Merlin went about getting that helmet in the story... bet it was Uther O.O Let's rape the girl AND give the main character a funny helmet for him to wear! lol, I don't know.

That's actually a really good explanation - it sounds life something Uther would do! *shudders* Maybe I should write a Mab fic where she cuts of certain parts of his anatomy...*muses*
