Maybe he was just lame in general, yeah I could see that. The only interesting things about him are really the sword which was more the lady of the lake and Mogan(a/whatever you want to call her). I really hate Uther and if he happened to never exist I'd be quite happy but even he is more interesting.

Oh so true!!! Again, what's funny is that I've never seen a Arthurian movie where Uther was THAT disgusting. I've always liked him before, except for the fact that he shagged another man's wife. In Mists of Avalon (the movie) Uther was actually better looking than Arthur. Way better looking. That's him! www.pirates-cave.com/moa25.jpg

And you know what's the worst about him: He doesn't even know why he hates Mab, he just does what he is told. A total lemming, and he looks like on too!

Are we back on Arthur or is this still Uther, I'm slightly confused.

I meant Uther, but the same thing applies to Arthur as well. Sorta brainless guys...
The Uther in Mists of Avalon was a tad smarter...and he was ok with the old ways, he accepted and respected them, even tho he was more of an atheist.

I think it's uber lame the Uther in Merlin hates the old ways yadda yadda yadda but has not problem with using them to sleep with someone and get a cool sword.

Uther was a really unreflected person, he never wasted a thought on the old ways or christianity. Vortigern did, and decided to take the atheist turn, but at least he gave the whole matter a thought.
Uther didn't, and Merlin told him that the old ways weren't so cool, so the lemming decided to jump over the cliff with the others. But that sword was so shiny, and that chick was sooo pretty, and he got sooo horny...and the old ways became sooo convenient...
And Arthur...is a puppet on a string.

Which gives me the thought of why Mab just never went to Uther? He's not the brighest light on the xmas tree and face it he would have made paganism the order of the day had Mab offered him what Merlin gave him. Perhaps fear his subjects would turn against him.

Vortigern was def. better looking, and dear Gods, even Mab has her boundaries she wouldn't overstep.
Do you realize that the two of us just led a 2 page long discussion on Arthur? (and Uther?)
yay us!

Well that goes without saying but come on ugly or not this is life or death people no time to be picky...basically this says Mab would rather die than go near Uther ;D ;D ;D Her only other way would be Arthur and to do that she'd need to get him from Merlin. The only good thing that would come from that is that Arthur may seem less lame frihfrfgrdgkhreiuhgqlf So we have now that takes skill.

If the real Athur ever existed - he actually won two battles against the Saxons (Ann. Cambr.), which makes him a little bit more capable of leading a country than his movie counter-part.

he actually won two battles against the Saxons (Ann. Cambr.), He did I don't believe much is known about the historical Arthur but because he drove the Saxons back the storytellers many years (centuries?) later decided to make stories about him and his days of valour, faith and other high words, purely fictional of course. This was to serve as an example to the people of that 'present day' time. I ought to get my study book on this from it's carbon box.
