Meh, I wasn't really a huge fan of either Sir Rupert or the pig. They seemed to be there just for the sake of having animals in the film. The "cute" factor, maybe. Of course, Merlin needed a horse for all the travelling he did, but trying to make Sir Rupert into a character in his own right didn't work quite so well, IMO.

He certainly gave Merlin someone to talk to, though. And if it wasn't for him, Merlin's hypocritical 'end justifices the means' remark wouldn't have been commented on. Apart from that, Sir Rupert's just kinda...there. XD No one seems to notice or care that Merlin and his horse carry on conversations. It's hardly worth paying attention to at all.

Ah, that's true. And that line was just begging for that response.
Well, maybe they all just thought Merlin was a bit eccentric, and that's why they didn't notice. I mean, he did the whole wizard thing of staying in a tower at Camelot, and he didn't seem to have been that popular amongst all the Christians, so:
Random Person 1: Merlin's talking to the horse again Random Person 2: Must be a wizard thing *nods sagely* Both: Aaaaaa!

Probably very likely. Now that I think about it, even I didn't notice much, and I usually notice talking animals. It was like the hrose was just...there.
