Hello, another newbie! I was wondering if these forums where still active (as a latecomer.. I really hope so!)
I remember watching this film when I was a lot younger (I am 22 now, so I must have been a mere 8 or 9?), and remember loving it, and decided to go back to it last week after I heard that Helena Bonham Carter had been in it - who I LOVE - and I honestly couldn't remember her in it at all! I remembered Queen Mab mostly, as although she scared me a little back then, I always found something about her... people I tend to lust after nowadays usually offer a similar pattern, and I guess, using her as an example, they always have done.
Loved it watching it more recently, even more so as I obviously understood it a lot more, as well as finding (obviously) Helena STUNNING as Morgan Le Fay... Queen Mab was as stunning as I had remembered... and Jason Done as Mordred was HOT as well - I hate it when guys cut their hair off!! This childhood favourite must have affected me, for giving me so much eye candy I never realised for when I watched it again recently.
I honestly think a lot of the tastes I have nowadays must have developed from the mysterious characters in a lot of childhood films.
I love all the baddies in Harry Potter for example, the main characters always left me with a bad taste in my mouth - cringe. Pretty much all the background characters where always more interesting and had so much more depth to their characters... ie, Bellatrix Lestrange, the Black family, the Malfoy family at times, and Snape.
In Merlin, Queen Mab's talking of the 'Old ways' and 'Old religion' I feel has very important to me as well.. as I have very Pagan beliefs, so although this didn't go into much detail in the films - it really stuck out to me personally...
Wow, I've waffled on a bit but yeah! A new fangirl is here for you all!
Was this particular Merlin based on a book in particular? I need to read it, if so!
