Just saw the new movie tonight and really loved it. I went into it expecting that it would be like most big-budget american films and be all about the shiny special effects with a boring, predictable storyline and bad acting. But it wasn't. The storyline was actually original and Angelina was wonderful as Maleficent. So I highly recommend it. It's not like its Game of Thrones or Frozen worthy. But it is definitely a strong movie. Most movies are absolute crap.
Maleficent reminded me so strongly of Mab. Everything she did I could see Mab doing too. Her wicked sense of humor, her soft cute moments, and her terrifying moments were 100% Queen Mab. XD
*goes off to fangirl some more*

I've permanently decided Maleficent is really just Mab2.0 the movie. Or what I like to call "the alternative version where Mab has a daughter that doesn't betray her like her son did. Aurora actually chooses her fae side over her human side, the complete opposite of Merlin's choice."
Ugh! Now I have to wait a long time before it's out on DVD! since it's only been in theaters for about a week now.
P.S. Aurora's not actually fae in the movie, but it's not hard to imagine it that way inside my head-canon.

But as I wrote on the other boards -
why is there no more Miranda in it???
It might be good, but wouldn't it be even greater with her??
Wasn't she supposed to be an aunt of Malificent?
What has happened to that?
I can't seem to find any information about it :-(

All I knew was that Maleficent was a dark, ugly fairy that felt slighted because she didn't receive an invitation to the party like the other fairies. I don't know if she had relatives among the fairies. In the movie though, she is treated like the dark queen of all the fairies -- just like Queen Mab.

Indeed Miranda was said to be in this film, but she wasn't. I haven't found more information on it either. I did not expect much from the film Maleficent, mainly because I love the character to bits and was worried it would never live up to my expectations. I was wrong. It is an incredible film. A very bold move from Disney. Most brilliant acting especially from Angelina. Beautifully shot and oh the clothes. =) "It's not like its Game of Thrones or Frozen worthy. But it is definitely a strong movie. " Funny that you should say this. I have longsince stopped watching Game of Thrones on the grounds of it being too perfect (I can be odd this way). Frozen I genuinely dislike. The animation is very pretty, the story went too fast at first, partly due to this I could not relate to the characters at all. If you wish to get on my nerves just mention Frozen. "Most movies are absolute crap." I am sad to say I have to agree with you. This fairytale trend is overall being a disappointment. I am glad some jewels like Maleficent do come out of it. "Maleficent reminded me so strongly of Mab. Everything she did I could see Mab doing too. She is classic fae! I love her/the makers and writers of this film for it.

I really like Frozen, but the ridiculous way everyone worships it does grate on the nerves. It's one freaken movie. It's not a deep story because it didn't have time to be... and its for kids. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc are very long series of books. They have the time to have depth. I'm still watching Once Upon a Time because of Regina even though its a train-wreck. But season 4 that's airing right now has really made me hate Frozen because they've brought the Frozen characters into OUaT and it's not blended together well at all. It's forced and stupid and screams "we did it for the franchise profits".

Yep, the once upon a time thing is very sadly, very poorly done. More Disney fairytales are coming up. Live action Cinderella (personally not pleased with trailer, it looks pretty but unoriginal. What are your thoughts and expectations? I love to discuss. ^^), Into the woods (oh my favourite musical, please be a good film ), an animated one called Princes, another Frozen. From the uncertain corners of internet I also picked up on a possible Rumpelstiltskin Disney film to be. PLEEEAAASE YES Also: "The story will be combined with another classic story, Turandot. " squee one of my all time favourites.
