I've recently been on a kick of discovering new TV shows, and amongst a few other gems, I have recently watched through the first two series of Peaky Blinders.
IMDb Page - Peaky Blinders
Basically, it's a show set in Birmingham (UK, that is) from 1919- early 1920s, centred on a gang called the "Peaky Blinders", who sew razor blades into the peaks of their caps. In particular it focuses on the Shelbys, the family at the centre of the gang, and gang leader and default head-of-the-family Tommy Shelby. Sam Neill appears in both of the first two series as one of the primary antagonists, playing a brutal police detective from the Royal Irish Constabulary who is sent to Birmingham to locate a missing shipment of machine guns. I'm not an accent expert by any means, so I couldn't tell you how good Sam's northern Irish accent is, but he certainly looks like he's enjoying the chance to play such a horrible character XD
The show also stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy, Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy from the Harry Potter films) as Tommy's aunt and the family matriach and Annabelle Wallis (Jane Seymour from The Tudors) as a young spy for Sam Neill's character who infiltrates the Peaky Blinders.
It's a pretty good show- it's in the vein of the Tudors, in that it's a show about some very unlikeable characters doing pretty unlikeable things, and it does have an irritating tendency to make every woman who isn't directly related to it's lead character fall in love with him, but I think it's still worth checking out.
It's also worth noting that the music is in no way from the era the show is set in- there's a lot of rock, etc. in the soundtrack that matches well enough with the mood of the show, but isn't really in keeping with the time period. I don't mind it, I actually quite enjoy the way it's done, but I know it can be off putting for some people, so there's a disclaimer for you just in case.
