I was wondering if anyone else had the chance to watch the BBC's recent adaption of J.B. Priestly's "An Inspector Calls"? The plot of the play is essentially a rich, turn of the century married couple having a meal to celebrate their daughter's engagement to the son of a wealthy fellow businessman. During the evening, a mysterious police inspector arrives to inform them that a young working class woman has killed herself, and over the course of the evening, he reveals how each member of the family (mother, father, son, daughter and even the prospective son-in-law) played in pushing her to that point. In this version, Miranda played the mother, and the Inspector himself was played by David Thewlis (Lupin from the Harry Potter films). I studied this play for my GCSEs (national exams taken at age 16 in the UK) some years ago now (more than I like to remember XD), and quite enjoyed it at the time, so it was nice to see it televised, with added Miranda It's a little different from the play, though I think a lot of that is down to it being for a different medium- rather than all the events of the young woman's life being described verbally by the Inspector, we actually see them in flashback, and as a result, some of the events that were left unclear (possibly deliberately?) in the play were actually confirmed in this version. But overall, I enjoyed it.

I wanted to see this, badly, and the night it aired I forgot to record it. I saw "the Scandalous Lady W" which I liked -colours, costumes,story,...- and "Lady Chatterley's Lover" which I didn't really like -hugging the book to me 'you are much prettier...' -. "An Inspector Calls": I heard about the play but I have never seen or read it. It sounds fascinating. Ergo my desire to watch it. Hopefully I can find it somewhere online or they air it again. whhaaaa I missed Miranda too? aaaaaaaaaawe I will get back to you when I see it.

I also saw and enjoyed "The Scandalous Lady W" (not just because of Natalie Dormer, but it certainly helped ), didn't see "Lady Chatterley's Lover" but it doesn't sound like I missed out on too much there... Sorry you missed it! I'd definitely recommend it if you get the chance to see it.

Loved it. Also because of David Thewlis.
