Wasn't sure whether to put this up under "Foreign Kings and Queens" or here, but, seeing as it's of an arty nature, I thought I'd put it in here. Not sure if everyone on here will have heard of Liv Kristine Krull, she's the lead singer of a gothic metal band called "Leaves' Eyes", she used to be the female singer in "Theatre of Tragedy" (who were one of the original gothic metal bands to utilise the now-popular "Beauty and the Beast" style vocals), and I'm rather partial to her voice, so I made some goodies featuring her (most of which were done on my old computer using the GIMP software): An icon (image taken from "Nymphetamine"- song by Cradle of Filth, but featured Liv Kristine as the female vocalist) A desktop background (images from the same video, and the bloke in the long black jacket is the lead singer of Cradle of Filth)- I posted this on MRAP and Live Journal a while ago, so some of you might have seen it before: And a random Leaves' Eyes background (lyrics from "Vinland Saga"): Enjoy!

I've never heard of her, but on the second wallpaper she looks like Reece Witherspoon. Those are very nice pictures.

Hello some of my favourite music I hadn't noticed you here before. After all these years Chambers is still full of surprises. Thank you for the pretty wallpapers!

Slightly OT but sleepyqueenie, have you heard the latest Leaves' Eyes album by any chance? I'd sort of lost touch with the band's work after the "Legend Land" EP, but I'm quite enjoying "King of Kings" - might have to go back and listen to their other albums again now.

Darling! I am so happy you brought this up. I haven't heard their latest album yet. It is on my Xmas wishlist. I love their work. They have an album about mermaids: "Melusine" and "Symphonies of the Night" is one of my favourites. Very dark with a song on Carmilla. Have you heard the "Lovelorn" album? I fangirl about that one with Nyssa quite often. The band is now on tour to promote "King of Kings". They are coming to my land as well, sadly not near where I live so this year I won't see them. I have seen them perform two years in a row though. They are excellent. Have I told you about it? I forget what I post on here. I hope Sirens is going to do another tour as well. This is Liv Kristine, Anneke van Giersbergen and Kari Rueslåtten performing together. A magical sound. The songs are 'oldies'. I got to hear my Theatre of Tragedy favourite songs live!!!!! I never held that possible. :3

I heard about the Sirens project, it sounds really good, though I imagine trying to coordinate all three schedules might make it tricky for them to tour often.
I do have a copy of "Lovelorn", I enjoy it but I'm a bit more partial to "Vinland Saga", which was the first album of theirs that I heard. I wasn't a big fan of the single "My Destiny" when it came out, and I'd sort of stopped following the band's work closely until I heard some songs from King of Kings, but I feel like maybe I should go back and check out some songs from Njord/Meredead/Symphonies to see what I've been missing. They're playing in Manchester later this year, which is reasonably close to me, I was thinking of going to see them, time and funds permitting. Hopefully it won't sell out before I get the chance, they are playing in a really small venue, but it's nice to see them branch out beyond London.
I think you posted about seeing them at Female Metal Voices Fest, unless I'm remembering wrong, but not the other time- good to hear that they're good fun live as well, though!
The album's a good listen- I don't know how it holds up to their last few, but "Waking Eye" and "Halvdan the Black" are pretty catchy singles, I like the folky tones on "Vengeance Venom" and "Swords in Rock", and Simone Simons from Epica guests on one of the songs, her voice meshes well with Liv's IMO

It really really really is. The moment when they sing Kari Rueslatten's "Ride" with the three of them: magical. And of course with any Theatre of Tragedy song, especially Venus, I become 100 percent adoration and fluffiness. "Njord" I find is more like "Vinland Saga". You certainly missed some great stuff, in my opinion. :)I hope you can go to the concert. Last year I heard them and it was very impressive. -repeating myself - They are also very sweet to the audience, explaining what they are going to sing about next and just being a loving group while they are playing + they had huge swords on stage that they put on fire, who does not like that? They performed "Halvdan the Black" last year on MFVF. I liked that song a lot too. Both times I've seen them they "launched" a few new songs in their show. "Simone Simons from Epica guests" Yaaay! I love her voice (and Epica), it will be interesting to hear her with Liv. I adore it when singers feature on each other's albums, it happens a lot in the metal world. On festivals as well. At the MFVF almost everyone is there anyway so every performing band will at some stage invite another singer for a song or two. By the end of the day you will have heard many unexpected and beautiful duets. I remember one year Delain brought Sharon van den Adel along especially. More news on Liv: she just announced doing a solo tour this winter and she will be bringing Theatre of Tragedy songs. This is a huge dream come true for me. For the Uk, this is when and where she'll be: 20.12.2015 London, Underworld. You can find all of the information on her facebook. She even put the setlist online, and I am going to copy it here because it is so pretty: Commute Image Siren Venus Vervain My Wilderness Panic A Hamlet For a Slothful Vassal Der Tanz der Schatten Black as the Devil Painteth On whom the Moon Doth Shine Machine Silence Oblivious Stronghold of Angels

I have the new album now. A New Year's present. I love the mood of "Waking Eye". It reminds me of our Merlin when he is having visions. I like the folky tones on "Vengeance Venom" and "Swords in Rock" Same here. Folky tones usually appeal to me. The album makes me want to dig up dear old Snorri -I saw some nordic mythology in my literature lessons but not as much as I would have liked-.

Glad you're enjoying it! Didn't even think to link "The Waking Eye" in with Merlin, I like it!
