Seeing as we've pretty much exhausted the Theivery thread for now, I thought it might be interesting to try and figure out the precise locations for where Merlin and MA were filmed. I mean, a lot of us know vaguely- Merlin was filmed mostly in Wales and Pinewood Studios, MA was, I believe, filmed in Canada, but if anyone knows somewhere more specific, or can find any pictures that look likely, it might be interesting. OK, my input, some of you from MRAP know already, but I was on holiday in Wales with my family a little while ago, and the caravan site we were staying in was opposite this estuary, in which there was an island, which I am pretty much 100% sure was used for Avalon. For one thing, it looks just like it- I'll find a picture to demonstrate in a minute (sadly, I didn't own my camera back then, so have none of my own), also, it is near several small towns, one of which is called Port Merion, and in the director's commentary for "Merlin", it's confirmed that the set for Avalon WAS near this town. (rubbishy google image of the estuary) *growls* There is actually a screenshot from the film that has the same view of the island, I believe, but the site of many screencaps is not forthcoming on this issue, so I'll have to try and find it myself at some point

Just to clarify, I say geek with a distinct sense of pride. I also found a website with a picture of the valley containing the lake by which Camelot was built, but it may take me a while to find it again- also in Wales, unsurprisingly.

Really? I would love to see. Himiko, you are slowly convincing me that I need to get off my duff save some money, make use of my dad's flight benefits so I go to Wales and visit these sites you speak of.

Being a geek is always prideful.
I have always wanted to go to Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is rather pretty indeed- I have a poster of it infront of me as we speak. However, bear in mind that if you do ever make it down there, you can't actually go right up to it and wander amongst the stones, there's a rope fence around it, alas.

Still nothing forthcoming on the finding of that website I mentioned, but I DID find the name of "Avalon", and a better picture- Tis called Ynys Gifftan. www.geograph.org.uk/photo/142069EDIT: I also found a site about films shot in Wales- it mentions Merlin, and says: " Filmed around Llanberis, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Capel Curig, Ynys Môn, Betws Garmon" Another site lists: Location: Llanberis; Blaenau Ffestiniog; Capel Curig; Eisingrug; Llynau Cregennen; Dyffryn Ardudwy; Ffynnon Lligwy; Betws Garmon; Snowdonia; Anglesey; Martins Haven, Pembrokeshire

YAY! I've only been to London once myself, and spent most of the day in a fucking enormous pub in Camden called "The World's End", so I fear the only piece of advice I can offer you as far as London goes is watch out for the fucking mentalist angry drivers.
Also, bear in mind that going to visit Wales from London does involve driving to the other side of the country, which your parents/school/ whoever you're going with may not be too happy about.

LOL. Yes I know. I think I can convince them.
I would either be going with my mom for fun, or to a seven week theatre camp at Cambridge.

Some religious thing, methinks. Pagan, 'o course. Bet you can get arrested if you went past the rope without permission, right? It'd be worth it though.
