Your dream sounds interesting, sleepyqueenie. Same. You asked how we celebrated the 20th Anniversary... I wasn't able to celebrate by watching Merlin again but it was in my thoughts. Late at night I wrote "Watch Merlin 1998 on YouTube" in chalk on the sidewalk in front of a busy ice cream parlor. Never heard of it before but I would also like to know more. It's so difficult to find articles from the time Merlin was originally released. I had no idea it aired a year later in the UK. That explains why the novels are dated as being published in 1999. In that case, next year will be your true 20th anniversary. Maybe fate prevented you from celebrating this year because it deemed it too early. We recorded it on VHS as well. I'm envious of your ability to remember so much from that time. No story this month. Best to spare the world from my writing. I made a magazine containing photos of the men of Merlin. After reading the comments in the Merchandise thread concerning Himiko's fic An Illusion of Magic, I made this photoset after re-reading the story in its entirety. If I could, I would draw the ballroom dream sequence. I love the thought of seeing Mab, Merlin, Nimue, Frik and Morgan in the gorgeous ballroom costumes from Labyrinth.

Can my cid-entry count as my "women" challenge? It wanted to be fic length. In the future I will keep cid entries bite-sized again to keep the story flowing and fun. :-D I have been rereading Jim too. ^^ Wow himiko you were there from the start! *so much admiration for your writing* Me watching Merlin, a continuous chorus of "I love this film." I think you can definitely count your Cid entry as a fic, it's definitely longer than some of the entries I've done so far - clearly the femslash demands length! Haha, yeah, I can't believe that was over ten years ago now - I feel like old-Merlin right now... just got to get myself a feathery cape and a beard... Morgan le Fay - firstly, I love all of the character pictures with the quotes, nice encapsulations of the characters. I am also blushing at the Labyrinth photoset, it's lovely - and yeah, it would have been quite something to see them in those ballroom costumes, though alas I suck at drawing so I am similarly unable to provide. And I love the Lailoken/ Paschent video - bless them, they probably got the happiest ending in the film since they didn't have to wait decades before they finally got back together again XD

Thank you himiko. :-) I love these challenges. I really wanted to do one for "Men" but I couldn't find the time to. It would have been an "Ode to Sir Boris" fic. Over 10 years... Yep I have been a fan for that long too. Copying Mab and Elspeth's hairstyles, drawing Merlin pictures in my schoolbooks,... It took me years to find this forum. Were you a newbie fan around Jim time? The femslash, I guess it just really wanted to be written. It started out as a short thought, a short entry, until I wrote it out. Morganlefay you get all the glitter! I adore your entries! I will print out your Illusion of Magic photoset and put it in a folder with the fic. Your pink magazine has me in stitches, perfect! I am a fan of the dreamboat Merlin picture. Yep a teengirls fantasy to hang above the bed. Soothsayer and architect finally getting the love they deserve. :-D

Thanks, Himiko. Please forgive this undoubtedly annoying question, but would you mind adding some examples for what you would consider fitting for this month's prompt? Please don't give up! It would be great to read something about our dear old friend Sir Boris. Anything you write will be appreciated, no matter when it's posted. Thank you, sleepyqueenie, for all your kindness. It's an honor. The 'magazine' was supposed to come out purple, a Queen Mab Publications title, but it didn't work out. A librarian had to help me print it because the machine was malfunctioning. She held up each page, surveying it first of course, saying, "Is this yours?" Even commented on how Vortigern was faded out. When she held up the page with Frik on it, I was mortified because I was wearing this: Had I known my printing session would not be private...

Thank you himiko. :-) I love these challenges. I really wanted to do one for "Men" but I couldn't find the time to. It would have been an "Ode to Sir Boris" fic.Over 10 years... Yep I have been a fan for that long too. Copying Mab and Elspeth's hairstyles, drawing Merlin pictures in my schoolbooks,... It took me years to find this forum. Were you a newbie fan around Jim time? I would refer you to the "Feel free to submit entries for previous prompts" and my own extreme behind-ness and heartily encourage you to write "Ode to Sir Boris" if you ever do find the time XD It will stand us in good stead when Roger Ashton-Griffiths inevitably ascends to world rulership. I think I'd been on MRAP for about 1.5 years by the time Jim started, something like that. I remember it being a pretty good time for Merlin fanworks as a few Merlin fans joined shortly before so we kind of overran the forum for a while there. Unfortunately, my hair was much too short at the time for attempting Mab's hairstyle, and whilst it is probably long enough now, it is nowhere near well behaved enough ;P But yeah, talking my poor friends' ears off about Merlin, attempting to convert people to the cause was very much my thing back in the day! Also, jumping back to my own terrible lateness, I not only posted this entry very late but I also forgot to link it in this thread until reminded, so... XD Faith - FF.net/ AO3Re. ideas for this month's prompt - you could look at humanity literally, as in how they differ from non-human characters like Mab and Frik. You could explore Merlin's relationship with his dual human/ magic heritage - or perhaps how the Christian characters around him, such as Nimue or Arthur, deal with it. Hope this helps give some ideas!

Then I proudly owe you all a Sir Boris fic on a later day. :-D Beautifully said! Yes, may Roger Ashton-Griffiths lord kindly over us. I have seen your hair, it is gorgeous. Well behaved or not, Mabish or not, your hair has my eternal admiration. I adore your story! Perfect perfect perfect for that moment, those characters.

I hope this works, here is my challenge for this month. In the spirit of 'humanity' I tried to make some artwork featuring Merlin characters. Morgan Le Fay in Klimtstlye, featuring her mirror, kite and the crown she desires. (Okay, some of her limbs are missing but at least I got to use pretty gold markers) The Lady of the Lake, both wanted to be in it, the photo of this picture is rather flue. (does one say that in english? Hazy.) I may take a better one later. The upper part of her is all silver-speckled. Lots of swirls because I love colouring swirls. I went for a Cretan snake goddes/ Lady Justice pose (tried to give her a blind-ish look). Excalibur to the one side, a Fish (imaginary as I had no internet at hand to research a particular fish) at the other (insert silly Scales pun here ) and casually threw in the Grail, discarded. Queen Mab in George Barbier style, based on one of his pictures for Les Fêtes Galantes. www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/478014947933700228/ You can thank me in fanfiction. Now Mab is the most difficult to work with. She told me not the question the hair. But I do. I suggested piling it up as the woman in the original picture, she didn't want to. I told her I couldn't have it touch her body/neck or the effect of the picture would be ruined. That back-neck line is important. So she gave me this hair, which looks completely unnatural. The fairy couldn't care less. Barbier hairstyle aren't realistic either, I can't argue with that. Who even knows how Mab's hairdo's work. Honestly her hairstyles are part of why I love her so. Still... do you suppose tiny fae braid it for her? As they weaved baby Merlin's basket? Fae are famous for braiding. Is this considered 'magic' or workforce? Or can she just lightning-magic it as she does her wardrobe changes? Oh and the bird, I couldn't do one of those griffins, I tried something, it may resemble a merlin?

Your artwork is beautiful, sleepyqueenie. I was ecstatic to see that you'd posted art. The shading and coloring is impressive, and I like the different styles and added details you mentioned. The waves, the faery wings, the gold with Morgan. I love them and have saved them all. You're very talented. Thank you so much for letting us see them.
The previous prompt hasn't been forgotten by me, just delayed. Looking forward to the July results from other fans.

Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing. Haha, Mab making life tricky with her hair XD I always assumed that she most does it herself, but she allows her fae to do it for her on occasion. Interestingly, her "look" in the Land of Magic seems like it has the least amount of braids of any of her styles, which is surprising given that she is surrounded by fae there. Still running behind! I've not had the chance to put together a fic for the April prompts yet, so please find my response to May's "Men" challenge below. I tried to keep it focussed on the male characters, Mab does loom a little bit large over it though. Three Fathers: FF.net / AO3

Yaaaay Magic! Thank you both so very much! "I always assumed that she most does it herself," Now I want a film of Mab braiding her hair. I wonder... could she give us a braiding workshop? Maybe it is part of her protection, armour for going 'outside'? I don't know. I love her land of magic look. Your challenge is gorgeous. "I tried to keep it focussed on the male characters, Mab does loom a little bit large over it though." that is not a bad thing... She did that with my sir Boris story too, even more I might add, swans in there like she owns the story. I am looking forward to yours, Morgan. There is no rush. I was going to do a short Cid update. do not know the meaning of 'short' anymore. oh and I edited because I had forgotten Morgan's lovely pronounciation. Himiko, YOUR CID TEXT IS COMPLETE ABSOLUTE UTTER BRILLIANCE ^^ I adore how you wrote Mab/Mordred. Thank you for that much needed flashback. I could not do it myself. Schadenfreude Puddles is now my favourite Puddles. Her spying was perfect. ooh bringing Frik and Morgan back in the game. Such genius and fun lines. complete brilliance Lady-Idath-Mab awww Mab and Loke. I treasure them. Did I mention brilliant? I love love love Cid.
