Cue cheesy scenes where they try to attack trucks, thinking they are dragons. Is it supposed to be a comedy/parody? o__O

It's not supposed to be a parody, and I don't think it's meant to be a comedy either, that was meant to be one of those "lighthearted funny moments" that failed utterly, as far as I can see.

...
Right. Well, it might be a less than successful attempt to bring the characters in the modern world and see them react? *shrug*

Yeah. Alas, none of them were crushed under the wheels of the offending truck as far as I can remember.

Crap.
I was really hoping for a Crying-Game-Moment with the wheels of, like, a tank or something.

OK. Here I am, after having seen this piece of ...ahem... movie. (I did fall asleep halfway through, but I did watch it...) Spoiler warning, just in case... It left me with a very pitiful "wtf...", tbh. It's not a parody (although it probably would have been better, had it been one). But I don't really know what it's trying to do - throwing people from the past into the present and at the same time trying to tie it in with the arthurian legends (seriously, they could have used random names)?? And either way, I'm afraid it fails rather miserably. (or was it only trying to say that in the end Guinevere returns to Arthur? Ohdear...)

Okay there is this film about Merlin, not the Return, called Merlin and the book of beasts. I heard it is a pretty awful film so I decided to post about it in this topic. Has one of you seen this Merlin film about the book of beasts? summary from internet "Sorcerer Arkadian has taken over Camelot with a zoo of beasts from his magical book. King Arthur's daughter Avlynn asks Merlin to help her take back Camelot. She also has to find the sacred sword Excalibur to assist her as she leads a band of knights to battle Arkadian." It is Merlin vs Gorgons apparently. The actor who plays this Merlin is coming to a fantasy event near me. Now I have to decide how Merlin crazy I am. Would I go up to this actor for a vague link to Merlin? Charles Dance *squee* will be attending as well, I will have to decide on him as well. Usually autographs and pictures are pretty expensive on this event. With some luck they will both have a Q and A then I can go all Merlin-y.

Huh I thought this was a tv series. I dunno anything about it but many a saturday night ive bounced home and put Sci fy on and it's been on hence why I thought it was a tv series. The first time I tried watching it was because Id got it into my head Mab would be in it but I got bored of it quickly and went to bed. Whether it's any good I dunno I just got disappointed there was no Mab/Miranda.

Again on Merlin, not the Return, but Merlin and the book of beasts. I saw it. I wouldn't recommend it but it doesn't hurt either. A small group of one knight, 2 sons of knights and king Arthur and Guiny's daughter go on a quest to stop Mordred from taking over the world by sgi monsters. They seek Merlin and ask him for help. It's fun if you have a cold, sleepless night to fill like I had. I do like Mordred's plan of keeping up the incest tradition and taking Arthuria (not her name, I forgot her name) as his wife. As you can tell by Arti/Guiny have a daughter, legendwise it isn't all that fateful to its material. She does have brilliant blonde hair! If that helps, sure it does. There are rules for magic in this film that don't hold up. Oh and it very much is Merlin vs Gorgons. The gorgons are there all the time. Merlin himself is not what I'd call interesting. He does seem to have a constant harshness to his voice that may be the result of Mab's blood flowing through his veins. That is pure speculation of course. No mention of Mab in this film. images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/25700000/Saber-fate-stay-night-25737672-1280-1024.jpgIncidentally have any of you watched the anime Fate Stay Night/Zero with girl Arthur Saber?

Well, it seems to be time to break in this board, too, being as it is thus far empty. Tis empty no longer! Anyway, this thread is a warning. A grave, grave warning. If you happen to be in a video shop one day, and happen to come across a film named "Merlin:The Return", do not stop out of curiosity. Do not wonder if it has anything to do with Merlin/Merlin's Apprentice (it doesn't, BTW, it's made by a totally different company, with different "actors" and a different storyline). Do not waste hard earned money one it. You walk away from that shelf, and that video/DVD as if it contained anthrax. If you pass a paper that is giving this DVD away free, don't buy it for the DVD. Or if you must buy it, subject the paper and the DVD to a ritualistic burning, yelling "Out, foul spirits! Out!". If you ever come across anyone who was in this miserable excuse for a film, stab them in the eyes. And if you ever come across the script writer, ensure s/he is tortured before death. With these rules firmly in place, the world will be a safer place. I guarantee you. But it has Tia Carrere in it - I couldn't stab her in the eyes.. she has soo pretty eyes ... (And lets be honest, there is no other film or show from that list containing the character Merlin - that can even compete with our favourite film!)

^ Fair enough, maybe just shake your head at her disapprovingly for this film, in that case It's true, I'm a little biased in that I've yet to find an Arthurian film/ series I like better than "ours" but this one definitely stuck in my mind as being particularly bad.
