LOL, I thought I should make one before poor Joel finds that the Frik thread has once more zoomed around to speaking of Mordred related topics (albeit a nice one).
So, this is the home of Mab/Mordred discussions (and I even gave it three whole bricks!)

Yes, I voluntarily gave the discussion three bricks- I thought it would bring it good luck.

Hey, at least you have bricks. You realise this thread will kill Friks again? Ah well, at least it will have died valiantly, unlike its' protagonist

Ah, I apologise most profusely to the Frik thread- I'm sure it will survive!
Anyway, to put in the reply to the Mab/Mordred conversation after your comment about incest:
As you said, Mordred and Mab aren't technically related in the same way that Mab and Merlin are, even if he does call her Auntie. That said, she has been a presence in his life since childhood, and the feelings on her part seem to be predominantly familial (sp?) or platonic. His towards her, on the other hand, especially in the books, always struck me as a little more... obsessive, might be the word?

Ah, yes, obsessive is a truly excellent word. Hm. I think that it might indeed be some kind of twisted Oedipuss (sp?) complex, because I'm fairly sure that Mab is more of a mother figure to him than Morgan.

Well, she did master-mind his birth. Same with Merlin, and she does consider him a son, soooo... I don't know about the books, but in the film there seems to be nothing whatsoever from Mab in that respect, most of it is maternal pride, like the son she always wanted Merlin to be.

Yes, but you have to remember that the warped fangirl can interpret even the most casual look as a lustful half-glance, on Mordred's part anyway. Like these!

Most definetely.
And besides, she did not just "mastermind" Merlin's birth, she impregnated her mother, so ...

Ah, we're getting into subtleties now are we. I suppose you could say that thats Mabs manipulative nature, but theres no apparent benefit to her. Could be either/or...

Ah! Pictures of proof!
Yeah, Joel, I agree- whilst I see a lot (admittedly, a good deal of reading-in also goes into this) of stuff that indicates Mordred fancies Mab, I don't see the same feelings coming from Mab- she's undoubtedly fond of him, but it is, as you say, more motherly.

LOL, despite the fact that discussions about this pairing have invaded pretty much every other thread, this one appears to have trailed off.

Ah dear, we cannot let that happen. Well, if your searching for any reciprocated feelings, in the film all you've got to work from are a couple of provocative glances - but when you can interpret sexual tension between one character and the majority of characters s/he interacts with, you start to get the feeling that it may be more to do with actors stage presence. I fear this may be the case for Mab.

Ah, indeed, the great Miranda Richardson probably has a great deal to do with it.
*decides to go and look for shippy screencaps*
