Ha, wish that was the same for my family, it takes some getting used to.

Yeah, I'm going to have to tweak it.
Though, I guess my mom can be agreeable, after all, we both agree Merlin is a great film.

Ah, that's a start. My mum maintains that Merlin has great 'amusement value'. I'm not sure whether to be pleased or insulted at this...

My mother's sole opinion of Merlin is that it is "too bloody long". But she's used to the fact that I WILL WATCH IT!!!

Yeah, I've given up on happy Merlin-watching family time... I'm the only one left awake by the time the film's over. *grumbles*

I never really noticed how long Merlin was until I put it on at about 8 30 and it was over at 12 30. I was shocked.

That's why I'm glad it was a mini series and not a film in the first place. *shudders at the thought of a watered-down film version of Merlin* But yes, it takes some stamina to watch if you're not a raving fan, I guess. But who cares about non-raving-fans anyway?

Well, on the bright side, the nice DVD version I have is split into two 1.5 hour long episodes for the viewer with less stamina. Much more manageable for the not-quite-converted.

That was my humble begining, Channel 4 showd the film in two parts over a week and I made sure to catch both parts of course

I never remember watching it in parts... Possibly my memory of being an eight year old is somewhat hazy. Or else *shock horror* I only ever saw one of these segments as a kid.

Shock horror indeed. I remember seeing it when I was 9. My parents made me sit dowstairs and watch the first part. Needless to say, I was hooked by the end, and spent the next day endlessly pestering my parents to make sure we were back home in time for part 2.

I think I was 13 or 12 when I saw Merlin. I remember that I bugged my mom to buy the videos after watching the rest of Merlin. Then being sad that I didn't get them before leaving on vacation.

Ah, here comes a thoroughly tragic Merlin-story. Keep your tissues ready!
I first watched it when I was around 9 but then forgot all about it until it was re-shown when I was 14. Unfortunately, I missed the first 20 minutes or so of each part. Also, by that time we did not yet have a computer with access to the internet, so ordering it via amazon was kind of not possible. Then, I heard of a friend at school having it recorded it because of sam Neill.Needless to say, I borrowed the tape and went to great lengths to have someone copy it. It took aaaaages. And the tape also lacked the first 20 minutes of the first part.
A few months later, we finally got the internet, and I stumbled across it on amazon, but my mom wouldn't let me order it until my oral French grade had improved drastically. Needless to say, it shot up, and after way too much more time, I could finally get my hands on the full movie. Yay.
