Hmmm...
Well, of course, she'd have Frik, but wouldn't Frik still be serving Mab, and in effect, wouldn't be around Morgan as often as if Mab were there? Mordred and Mab = Frik staying... so that could have been another selfish reason to keep Mordred, because of her want to keep Frik around... o.O Err... I don't know XD
And on the subject of Morgan's love for Mordred, I believe she probably loved him in both ways, for her key to the throne and everything she wanted, and a bit of love because he's her son. Like Accolon said earlier, it is a profoundly stupid thing to provoke Mab, so I would think she really had some selfless love for Mordred for facing the all-powerful Mab. But more selfish love for him than family love.

I agree.
Frik would still be with Mab. Mab wouldn't have striped his powers if Morgan hadn't 'slipped' and he'd yelled at her. So Mab would be with Frik. Mordred would be with Mab. And Morgan would be with . . . herself.
(BTW- BeyondWords, I gave you a Karma point for your icons.)

I don't know how much need Mab would have had of Frik (she certainly didn't intend to take him, when she and Mordred were leaving Tintagel). Maybe on the long run, I honestly don't know.

OK - new thought. The story as we see it in the movie is from the character of Merlin's perspective. Can we trust Merlin to be an objective source? Furthermore, in scenes were Merlin is not present, he may be relying on second hand information or conjecture. So Merlin was present for the great Morgan Pwns Merlin scene. But he wasn't present for the absolutely delicious, archery practice, or "maybe she just slipped" scenes. Who was Merlin's source then for those scenes? I would say probably Frik. And is Frik a reliable source, especially with regards to Morgan? I'd say NO. So in the Absolutely Delicious scene, we have this strange paradox where Morgan seems to do something absurdly stupid and therefore possibly out of character - forgetting what "worthy" means. Perhaps this is because Frik lied to Merlin who passed on the lie. Perhaps Morgan said something like "Unworthy? What does it matter. All that matters is Power." Or "Unworthy doesn't matter to people like us." In regards to the just slipped scene, maybe Morgan really did just slip, (So Morgan was not really just committing suicide by opposing Mab, they were just two allies in an argument and there was an accident) and Frik misinterpreted Mab's behavior and tone because he was so angry and distraught. Sure it's a bit of a stretch, but it might be a fun exercise to go through all of Merlin and check which scenes are "reliable" and conjecture about what "Really" happened. It'd give us something to talk about

I wanna do that so badly now. Which chapter is the Unworthy bit in on the dvd, anyway? For some reason I seem to have consecutively missed that seventeen times. What if she really did slip? Ooh, an idea is forming in my head!

I don't have the dvd handy, but the scene is on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fg6lie8IwY&feature=userremember, Merlin's point of view, as reported second hand by Frik! Not truth, all scurrilous half-truths against Morgan, Mordred, and Queen Mab.

Well, people believe what they need to in order to sleep through the night and Frik probably believed Mab forced Morgan to slip. I think that Mab did cause the slipage, because of the glare, but of course that is only what the filmmaker (or Merlin, lol) wants us to believe. It could be mere coincidence.

Maybe it was Puddles. She is the mistress of water and ice after all. Made that step extra slippery.
