*jigs her way into the Nimue thread, getting rather tired of these by this time, LOL*
Right, straight onto the opinions.
Nimue irritates me, to be quite honest. I realise, she's meant to be all good and pure and sweet and that, because she's Merlin's (the protagonist's) love interest and all. But, to be quite honest, because she's so good, and so pure, she comes off as being far too good to be true, and very one dimensional, and, no offence to the Isabella Rosselini fans here, but some actors manage to make even a seemingly boring character fairly interesting with the way they portray them. She doesn't.
OK, let's hear all of your opinions, then, I'm going to take a break from starting these threads for a while, LOL.

Firmly on the hate side, and not just because she associates herself with Merlin. :] The character really really annoys me.
Dragon: *emerges from den* Nimue: *imitates a fish* Dragon: *stomps up to eat Nimue* Nimue: *looks over her shoulder to see if Merlin is going to do anything* Dragon: Err, ahem? Rowr? Nimue: *slack jawed look of incomprehension* Dragon: Oh, to hell with this. *breathes spume of flame* Nimue: *emits high pitched wail that shatters audience's eardrums*
And also, jeez, vain much? So she has a few eensy scars on her face - what's the big deal? She's supposed to appreciate inner beauty, right? *stabbity*

I think I had a little more expectations from Nimue as far as her stubbornness goes. You know that comment at the beginning, that “Nimue was very headstrong even then.” – well, what happened to that? Apart from pissing off Vortigern and persuading him to get Merlin out of the dungeons, she didn’t really do all that much to portray her strong personality (yes, she did initially turn down Mab’s offer, but then changed her mind).
And her vanity might come in contradiction with what her character should be about, but I don’t think it’s really a reason to criticise her. I mean, things suddenly seem very different when they happen to you, and that can surely be applied in Nimue’s case. Plus, it made her look less ideal, it showed she was only human, and that, just like any other people, there were things she could not really cope with.

Hmmm, yes, indeed, I see what you mean- I think Nimue could have been made better with a bit more character development. I mean, one minute she's meant to be this headstrong character, who then gets more self conscious because of her scars, but is still pretty much a good person. BUT she's not actually on screen all that much, especially in the second part, so when she is shown, it feels a bit forced. Maybe because she's more removed from the main storyline, but it feels like they're trying to show how she's changed, but because she's not onscreen so much, it doesn't work so well.
To be honest, Nimue's role seems mainly to serve a purpose for other characters rather than herself- she's there to give Merlin some love interest, and a weakness, if you like, she gives Mab a way to get to Merlin, she gives Vortigern a way to show how nasty and paranoid he is, etc.

Ooh, I persist in answering difficult questions..
Nimue..actually did change a lot. I missed her in the horrible not-a-sequel, though, so I must have liked her. I just don't know why... I suppose it must have been... ..... *blanks out* I..don't...know...

Nimue SUCKS. She was a puppet for Mab and nothing else. She has no purpose.

I can't say I missed her in MA, but then, I was too busy missing Mab to mourn the loss of anything else, LOL.

Yeah, I only missed Nimue in the very beginning, when I vaguely wondered what happened to her. After that, I think I just zoned out. No Mab is no interest. I hate that talking pig.

But it TALKS!! It was fairly likeable up until that point. Seriously, was it's whole purpose in being there just to speak that one line at the end? Would it not have made more sense to have another human who knew how to get to the Land of the Dead?

I believe the Mardan Garayan from Dark Cloud is meant to be a very wise fish... or maybe he was just a rare one, I'm not sure, TBH.
