ok so I know that I'm doing a double post.
I just have to say...I saw Nightwish Aug 30th and it was sooooooooo disappointing!
No explodey goodness...Anette lost her voice in the middle of a song! They stopped 24 mins early so we all cheered for them to come back for 10mins straight and they sung one more song after that.
*shakes head* I was also towards the back, thanks to the person I went with was running late!
They sang Bye bye beautiful, the siren, amaranth, come cover me, ever dream, sahara, 7 days to the wolves, the poet and the pendulum, chest of wonders, wish i had an angel, the islander, and dead to the world.

Awww, indeed, I'm sorry that you didn't have a good time! I hope you have better luck next time *hugs* @tosca: Nooooo, Tuomas's chest did not bias your verdict at all. How could anyone say such a thing *shakes head in disbelief* As far as Tarja vs. Nightwish goes in concert- obviously, I saw the two of them in very different settings- Tarja's was an actual concert, in a small venue, so perhaps a more intimate setting, whilst Nightwish was at a festival, which was obviously much bigger, to start with, and there was more distance between the performers on stage and the audience. Also, at Bloodstock, I was having to jump around and crane to see around tall bastards, whereas at Tarja's gig I was near the front and could actually see, which helped XD. I'd probably agree that Tarja's concert was more intimate, but I don't know how much of my feeling that way may have been influenced by the size of the venue. Saying that, I've heard a lot of people say they've been at NW concerts and had one of the bandmembers make eye-contact/blow a kiss (not usually Tuomas, though, can you imagine the fangirl reaction XD)/winked at them, or even just been there, and said they found it quite "intimate". So I guess it depends on each fan. That said, I'd say the Nightwish concert had more "energy" to it, the band, especially Anette, got the audience joining in, and twas a lot of fun. I don't know, if I manage to see them again, in a proper concert, I shall consider it then. Also, for those who haven't read it, or if I haven't posted it here before, apparently the current plans for the band include touring until September 2009, or thereabouts, and then going into the studio in early 2010 to record the next album. I seem to recall reading that Tuomas has written one song for the new album, and has a few ideas. I'll get back to you if I turn out to have got that wrong, LOL.

Okay, here we go (story time ^.^) First, I need to bring up, that as a dedicated emppuholic... Emppu is sooo cute in person! He did his little wink in the Nemo solo, and his smile... *melt* It took such a long time. Ugh. We got there at like 7:20 and got in line. We waited 40 minutes to get in, and finally the line moved. We ended up in the third row of people next to the left speakers (Perfect view! I could see everyone, and let me tell you, a nice view of Tuomas ^.^) We wanted right speakers (so we could get some good Emppu activity, you know?) but that was already a little crowded. So we waited until about nine when the opening band came out. I was expecting something horrible, but they were really good. Volbeat, they're called. Then another long wait while they set up the stage for Nightwish (which was pretty awesome when they removed the cover to Tuomas' keyboard. He had his Edward Scissorhands No Jack Sparrow, sadly) They came on right on schedule, I was surprised. They were so beautiful =O It was unreal, almost. The only things that make me think it was real are the t-shirt I got, the tour book, and my awesome pictures. The setlist was... 7 Days to the Wolves Dead to the World The Siren Amaranth Romanticide The Islander The Poet and the Pendulum Nemo Sahara The Escapist Dark Chest of Wonders Encore: Ghost Love Score Wish I Had An Angel Afterwards, we were nearly dead, completely sweaty, and drank an entire water bottle in two seconds without stopping. We all got t-shirts (all they had was the large of the girl t-shirt and the 2x in the normal t-shirt -_-) So I went with the girl t-shirt, same with my friend, and I got it for my other friend that wanted to come but couldn't. Also got the tour book and headed outside. We sat on the side of the road to wait for them to come out, but sadly we only SAW Marco and Emppu come out because the staff was being mean and made everyone go back to their cars. But I don't really feel depressed about that part anymore. My first concert (ha, yes) and my first Nightwish concert, plus I saw them for their very last Dark Passion Play tour show in the US. I collected many pictures during this event. I was closest to Tuomas, and took advantage of that Follow the linkie! s328.photobucket.com/albums/l327/_darkpassionplay_/Nightwish5-14-09/

Sounds like you had an awesome time! Didn't go and see Nightwish on this tour, due to spending far too much money last term as it was to pay to go and see them in London, however it's always good to hear that the concerts are still sounding good. Bodes well for next time

Yeah, first one was Tarja, then Anette for DPP. Anette's really starting to grow on me. And for the most part, I feel sorry for her. But Tarja's my favorite and my idol.
Well, that's better, two is better than nothing... O.o

I miss Tarjas voice on Nightwish - but Tarja still makes wonderful music. It is just Nightwish that doesn't seems to be quite as good anymore... Worst thing is when Annette tries to sing the old songs -this is rape of my ears.
