Well, now we've established that music related goodies go in here, and seeing as so many people on here seem to like Nightwish (myself included), I thought it might be a good oppurtunity to start a thread for them on these boards.
So, those of you who like NW, firstly, which is your favourite song/album of theirs, and what do you think of their new singer and songs, from what you have heard so far?

Well, the second question is easy and can be summed up by the word 'meh'.
But the first question is practically impossible. *glomps them all*

I must say that after listening to Eva for an impossible number of times, I have grown very fond of it. The way in which the music is arranged around the voice is very pretty. And the music is still up to its original great standard. Anette's voice might not have the extraordinary or maybe extravagant touch of Tarjs's, but it's ok, and for Eva, it works really well.

After listening to "Eva" some more times, I have to say, it still bores the tits off me, pardon the expression. But the samples sound pretty good.

I agree that the girl's voice does work with the song, but I have yet to be persuaded into liking the song itself, I'm afraid... maybe I just haven't listened enough. *screws up eyes and goes to listen another 100 times*

Hmmm, this thread could do with a kick up the arse, methinks. *gives it one*
Tosca, I'm with you, I still don't like the song Eva. But as I said before, the samples aren't so bad, so we'll have to wait and see when the album comes out. Bringing us neatly round to the topic of the new album's title and track list being revealed in about 2 days (I think it's about 8am Friday 15th for us here in Britain, so translate that into whatever timezone you happen to be in).
And, also, I still think Nightwish should do a Merlin themed album. Or a Mab themed album. That would be great and mighty, and would make my year. Particularly if the artwork featured Mab in some state of undress... *has drifted off into the realms of fantasy and dreamland*

OK, fine, bring the damn information out early, will you? *shakes fist at Nightwish* Right, OK, so the track listing is up now: 1. The Poet And The Pendulum 2. Bye Bye Beautiful 3. Amaranth 4. Cadence Of Her Last Breath 5. Master Passion Greed 6. Eva 7. Sahara 8. Whoever Brings The Night 9. For The Heart I Once Had 10. The Islander 11. Last Of The Wilds 12. 7 Days To The Wolves 13. Meadows Of Heaven The album will be called "Dark Passion Play". Amaranth is going to be the first new single. Here are the links to the cover art: www.nightwish.com/images/news/cover_dpp.jpg(album) www.nightwish.com/images/news/cover_amaranth.jpg (amaranth) Well, firstly I'm surprised that the longest song is first. Secondly, I don't like the album artwork- fairly typical of many other power/symphonic metal groups (first thing that sprang to mind was "Sonata Arctica", in fact). I do, however, like the Amaranth cover. And Tuomas has really gone to town with his titles, hasn't he? "Cadence of her last breath" (sounds a bit Cradle-of Filth-ish to me, LOL). Ah, well, we shall see.

True, it does - and I can't confess to being a great CoF fan. 'Bye Bye Beautiful' sounds more pop-ish than anything else to me. Mind you, they have had the odd title like that before. All in all, there seems to be a hell of a lot of reasons to be anxious about this new album, but hopefully come September, we'll all be very pleasantly surprised.

You're right Tosca Bye Bye Beautiful does sound like a pop song title *shrug*
Nightwish world tour begins on October and I am strongly set on going to their concert. I can't say I liked the new singer's voice but it probably will be my only chance to see Thoamas and Marco in the flesh. I am wondering however if the new singer will preform old songs that were sung by Tarja originaly.

*blinks* That would be weird. I guess it would be quite a short concert if she didn't though, unless they did some instrumentals.

I'm not sure what's worse. The new singer ruining Tarja's songs or the band making a concert with tones of instrumental bits

Hmm, I like most of NW's instrumental's very much, but they could never beat Tarja singing. ^^ Maybe they'll make up a few new, better songs? *is slightly too optimistic*

Or maybe they'll uterly change the old ones so that they'll match the new singer's voice. *is not so optimistic*

*patpat* Well, you'll either come back insanely happy or traumatised... but tell us about it either way.

Well, as to the old songs they may be singing on tour, according to interviews, they're not going to do "Phantom of the Opera" anymore, nor "Over the hills...", mostly because the band members are sick of doing it. Apparently, they ARE going to be doing "Come Cover Me", along with other old songs, and they've rerecorded some of the background vocals for these songs to play on the tour. Presumably they'll also play "Everdream", as that was one of the songs she apparently sang very well on the demo. But there will definitely be old songs played.
